My Secret Weapon: The Best Home Remedy There Is – GARLIC

July 21, 2026 by YK Leave a Comment

Have you ever dreamed of a magical pill that could cure almost anything? Well, I am here to tell you that what you have been looking for is in your kitchen – Garlic!

Why Garlic?

Why is garlic so magical? Garlic is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, killing bacteria, fungus, viruses, and even mold. And, best of all, it is cheap, readily available, and has negligible side effects…if you don’t count bad breath!

Before you read further, you must know the three cardinal rules of using garlic:
1. NEVER eat garlic on an empty stomach
2. DO NOT apply undiluted garlic to the skin (dilute with coconut oil or other carrier oil)
3. Use garlic raw (with a few exceptions)

How to Take Garlic Internally

  • Chop into tiny pieces, let sit for 10 minutes (it becomes more potent), then swallow with water like you would a pill.
  • For kids or squeamish adults, mix the chopped garlic with honey before swallowing or fill an empty pill capsule (the pill capsules we use) with the chopped garlic.
  • If you are feeling crazy, you can chew on a garlic clove and swallow (warning: really spicy!!!)

A note on amounts: Start small – about one small clove for an average adult. Adjust the dosage based on how your body responds. You can mince the garlic instead of chopping; however, it will be MUCH stronger, so be careful to decrease the dose.

How to Apply Garlic Topically

Mince the garlic and dilute it with coconut or olive oil before applying to skin. Always test a small area first. Always test on yourself before using on a child.

What You Can Use Garlic For

Below are the many ailments that garlic can cure and how to use it.

Note: I have either personally successfully used garlic for these ailments or have received first-hand accounts of garlic working its magic.

  • Mastitis / Plugged Ducts
  • Bacterial / Fungal Rash (Yeast, etc)
  • Nail Infection
  • Cough
  • Nasal Infection
  • Ear Infection
  • Cold or Flu (More natural remedies for the flu and cold season)
  • Yeast Infection
  • Mosquito Repellent
  • Athlete’s Foot
  • Immune Support
  • Tooth Infections / Pain
  • Parasites

As always: this is based on personal experience and research, not medical advice. Please check with a doctor for any health concerns, especially when it comes to children.

Worth Experimenting With

Below are some more interesting suggestions I found online, and plan to experiment with.

  • Pesticide: Create an all-natural garlic pesticide for your organic garden. Mix three minced garlic cloves with two tablespoons of mineral oil and let sit for 24 hours. Strain out the garlic, add a teaspoon of liquid dish soap and 1 pint of water. Place in a spray bottle and apply to infested plants.
  • Kill Parasites: Garlic consumed in quantities of about three cloves per day may help clear parasites.
  • Lose weight – Compounds found in garlic send your brain signals of satiety, which will actually help you to feel full faster. It also boosts metabolic function, helping you to burn more calories.
  • Repair glass – Think of this as a quick fix for mildly damaged glass. Rub the sticky juice of a crushed clove of garlic onto the hairline cracks, wiping away any excess liquid. Garlic is a natural adhesive, so it’ll help the glass to stay together and prevent any further damage.
  • Repel pests – We all know the best way to kill a vampire: garlic. Like vampires, blood-sucking mosquitoes are afraid of garlic. You can rub garlic on your skin to ward off mosquitoes, if you like, but you can also leave out cloves of garlic in areas where mosquitoes flock.
  • Attack acne spots – Cut a clove of garlic in half and rub it over the affected area. Done regularly, the antibacterial properties found in garlic cloves will help to clear up your complexion.
  • Ease cold sores – Very similar to acne prevention, cut a clove of garlic in half and apply it directly to the sore. It might sting a little, but it’s been shown to work just as effectively as commercial treatments for getting rid of those unsightly sores.

I cannot vouch for these as I do not have personal experience or do not have first-hand feedback.

A simple Google or AI search will yield even more results! I urge you to try to learn more, experiment, and report back! I’d also love to hear what’s worked for you in the past. Drop a comment and let me know!
